Free / Easy ways to get Virgin Australia Velocity Points (March update)

This is an ongoing post in a series updated every so often, detailing easy ways we know of to get Virgin Australia Velocity points – for free, or near to that.

Coles/Liquorland/Kmart/Target/flybuys

Do you shop and earn flybuys? you can transfer your flybuys points in multiples of 2,000 for 870 Velocity Points.  And you can earn STATUS CREDITS (one of the only ways to earn them without flying) – earn 1 Status Credit for every $100 spent, up to 10 per month.

Flybuystravel

Did you know Flybuys have their own travel website, where you can earn more Flybuys points, and convert them to to Velocity points?  Flybuystravel.com.au – regularly has promotions on certain routes or destinations where you can earn 5x or 10x flybuys points too!

Red Balloon

How about an experience with Red Balloon? Over 3,000 experience/gift ideas, and you can earn 2 Velocity Points per $1 spent.

Hotels

Going travelling? For hotels, like Crown hotels, TFE, and many thousands of others, you can earn often 3 points per $1 spent at Velocity Hotel Partners.

Holidays

Time for a holiday in Australia, New Zealand, Asia, North America, or the Pacific? Find the perfect trip on Virgin Australia Holidays and you’ll earn 3 points per $1 spent.

Bonus tip: if you have Silver, Gold, or Platinum status you will get your 50%-100% bonus too!

Parking

Wilson Parking is Australia’s largest parking operator with more than 260 car parks across Australia, parking more than 400,000 vehicles each day. Building on its core strengths of customer service and reliability, there are now several ways to earn Velocity Points with Wilson Parking, each time you park, wherever you’re going – you can earn 5 Velocity Points per $1 spent at over 85 participating Wilson Parking car parks across Australia.

Dining out

With OpenTable you can choose from hundreds of restaurants, and reserve a table in minutes. Not only will you get instant confirmation, you’ll earn 300 Velocity Points for every honoured booking. Bonus tip: Don’t want to leave the house? Get dinner delivered with Menulog via the Velocity eStore and earn 2 Velocity Points per $1 spent.

Exercise

Get a more satisfying workout with Jetts Fitness! You’ll be rewarded when you join through Velocity and will receive 2 Velocity Points per $1 spent on your ongoing membership, as well as 60 bonus Velocity Points if you make 5 or more visits to any Jetts gym in a month. If you ever needed more motivation to exercise, this is definitely it.

Pay Your Bills

Bills are a part of life. So why not use them to earn Velocity Points? Sign up to Australia Post’s MyPost Digital Mailbox (it’s simple and free); add your service providers and you’ll be rewarded with 50 Velocity Points every time you pay a bill to the value of $50 or more.

Ola

Earn 2 Velocity Points per $1 spent on rides to and from eligible airports and 1 Velocity Point per $1 spent on all other rides. Plus, you’ll get 1,000 bonus Points on your first ever ride*.  You’ll have to use the Virgin download link for the app, and link your accounts.

Travel Insurance

Travel with peace of mind knowing you are covered with Cover-More. Earn 3 Points per $1 spent.
Silver, Gold and Platinum members earn a 50%, 75% and 100% Bonus Points respectively on top of the base Points earned when booking.

Rent a car

Virgin regularly has deals on car rentals – earn points for driving away in a car from Hertz, Thrifty, Europcar and more!

Eg. until April 6, you can earn up to 6 Velocity points per dollar spent on rentals from Thrifty!

Velocity eStore

You can earn Velocity Points by shopping with retailers such as Apple, Myer, Booktopia and more through the Velocity eStore. The rate of points earned will differ between stores and promotions, however usually it is around 2 points per $1 spent. All you have to do to earn points on your purchase is log in to the Velocity eStore and click through to the retailer of your choice.
