TigerAir Australia’s Final Boarding Call

TigerAir New Seats

With the financial issues in aviation thanks in large to Covid-19, Tiger stopped flying temporarily in Q1 of 2020.  The hope was that the low cost carrier would return one day, but their struggles, combined with those of their parent company, has lead to them finally closing their cabin doors for good.  They sent this email out today:

To our valued customers,

There is no denying these are tough times for everyone in the travel and tourism industry.

And sadly, after nearly 13 years of operation we have made the difficult decision to discontinue the Tigerair Australia brand.

Since our very first flight on 23 November 2007 from Melbourne to the Gold Coast, we’ve provided affordable air travel to more than 30 million customers across Australia, and through the commitment of our people, past and present, created a family of 1.2 million along the way.

If you hold an existing Tigerair travel credit, head to the Tigerair website for information about Conditional Credits and Future Flight Credits for use on flights operated by our parent company Virgin Australia.

On behalf of the Tigerair Australia team, thank you again for the many years of support and loyalty.

We hope you get to take off again soon.
