Jetstar NZ Weekend Frenzy: Domestic from $59, Gold Coast $179, Rarotonga $199 - Ends Monday
Jetstar has put up a Weekend Frenzy across its New Zealand network, and the sale ends Monday 31 August 2026. There are 45 fare windows spread over 19 routes - fourteen domestic and five to Australia and the Pacific - with the cheapest starting at $59 one-way. All prices are NZD and all are one-way.
About Jetstar
Jetstar is the Qantas Group’s low-cost airline and a mainstay of Australian and New Zealand sale fares, which is exactly what this is. It flies domestic routes in both countries plus the Trans-Tasman, the Pacific and selected Asian destinations. It isn’t a member of a global alliance, but Qantas Frequent Flyer earning is available on eligible fares and add-ons.
Being a low-cost carrier, expect checked baggage, seat selection and food to be extras rather than inclusions - the headline fares below are the cheapest starter-level fares, so budget for bags if you’re not travelling with cabin luggage only. More detail on our Jetstar airline guide.
Connection Information
Every fare in this sale is on a route Jetstar operates in its own right rather than a fare stitched together from two carriers, and the domestic city pairs below are all part of its own New Zealand jet network.
If the booking page does show you a connecting itinerary - most likely on the longer Trans-Tasman fares - it will route you through one of the hubs in this sale, usually Auckland (AKL) or Christchurch (CHC). Check the published minimum connection time for whichever airport you transit against the layover you’re actually given before you pay, and be extra careful if the two legs end up on separate tickets, because a missed onward flight is then your problem rather than the airline’s.
About the Destinations
Auckland is the largest city and the main international gateway, spread across a narrow isthmus between two harbours and studded with volcanic cones - Maungawhau/Mount Eden and Rangitoto Island are the two most people climb. The Waitemata waterfront, the Sky Tower and the black-sand west coast beaches at Piha and Muriwai are the usual first stops, with Waiheke Island’s vineyards a 40-minute ferry away.
Christchurch is the South Island’s largest city, still visibly rebuilding after the 2010-11 earthquakes and much the better for it - the Cardboard Cathedral, the riverside Botanic Gardens and a substantial street-art trail are all within walking distance of the centre. It’s also the natural base for Akaroa, the Banks Peninsula and the drive inland to Aoraki/Mount Cook.
Wellington is the capital, packed onto a harbour at the bottom of the North Island. Te Papa Tongarewa is the national museum and free to enter, the cable car climbs to the Botanic Garden, and Zealandia is a fenced urban ecosanctuary where kaka and tuatara live wild inside the city limits. It also has the country’s densest run of cafes, craft breweries and small bars.
Queenstown is the adventure capital, wedged between Lake Wakatipu and The Remarkables, with bungy jumping, jet boating and the Skyline gondola in town, plus Milford Sound, Glenorchy and the Gibbston Valley wineries within reach. The October and May-June travel windows in this sale sit either side of the ski season at Coronet Peak and The Remarkables, which is worth factoring into both accommodation prices and crowds.
Hamilton sits on the Waikato River in the middle of the North Island’s dairy country. Hamilton Gardens - a series of themed enclosures rather than a conventional botanic garden - is the main draw, and the Hobbiton Movie Set at Matamata is about an hour’s drive east.
Dunedin is the country’s Scottish city, built around the Octagon and home to Larnach Castle, the Otago Peninsula’s albatross and yellow-eyed penguin colonies, and Baldwin Street, long claimed as the world’s steepest residential street. More on all the New Zealand stops at Tourism New Zealand.
Rarotonga is the main island of the Cook Islands, a ring of volcanic peaks inside a shallow lagoon that you can drive around in under an hour. Snorkelling in the Muri lagoon, the cross-island track past the Needle and the Punanga Nui market on Saturday mornings are the standards, and Aitutaki’s lagoon is a short domestic hop further on. Everything runs on New Zealand dollars, which makes it an unusually easy Pacific trip for Kiwis. See Cook Islands Tourism for more.
Brisbane and the Gold Coast are the two Queensland entry points here. Brisbane has South Bank, the Story Bridge climb and the riverside walks through the centre, with Moreton Island and the Sunshine Coast hinterland close by. The Gold Coast is the beach and theme-park option - Surfers Paradise, Burleigh Heads and the rainforest of Lamington National Park inland. Tourism and Events Queensland covers both.
Sydney needs little introduction - the Harbour Bridge, the Opera House, Bondi and the Bondi-to-Coogee coastal walk, plus the Blue Mountains a train ride west. More at Destination NSW.
Perth is the long haul of this sale and the most isolated capital city in the world, with Kings Park above the Swan River, Fremantle’s port and pubs at the river mouth, and Rottnest Island and its quokkas a ferry ride offshore. The Margaret River wine region is about three hours south. See Tourism Western Australia.
The Fares
The cheapest fare in the sale is $59 one-way between Auckland and Christchurch, and it’s available in three separate travel windows in each direction - Auckland to Christchurch from 28 October 2026 and Christchurch to Auckland from 27 October 2026 are the first two windows to open.
Every one of the seven domestic city pairs prices identically in both directions, which makes return trips easy to build: $59 Auckland-Christchurch, $64 Christchurch-Hamilton and Wellington-Queenstown, $69 Auckland-Wellington and Christchurch-Wellington, and $79 Auckland-Dunedin and Auckland-Queenstown.
The value pick is Wellington to Queenstown at $64, which is $5 cheaper than the much shorter Auckland-Wellington hop and one of the more scenic approaches in the country. Christchurch to Hamilton at $64 is the other standout, undercutting the trunk routes on a considerably longer flight.
Across the Tasman and the Pacific, Dunedin to the Gold Coast at $179 is the cheapest international fare, followed by Auckland to Rarotonga at $199, Christchurch to Sydney at $199, Auckland to Brisbane at $209 and Christchurch to Perth at $294. These five are one-directional in the sale - no discounted fare back was listed, so price the return leg separately.
The travel windows fall into three clear blocks: late October through to mid-December 2026, the first three weeks of March 2027, and late April through June 2027, with one Wellington-Christchurch window stretching all the way to 22 July 2027. Christmas, January and the school holidays are excluded, as they almost always are in a Frenzy. The single exception is Dunedin to the Gold Coast, the only fare in the sale that covers February 2027.
Window lengths vary a lot, so check yours before you plan around it. Wellington to Christchurch runs 02 May to 22 July 2027 - nearly three months - while both directions of Christchurch-Wellington in March give you just ten days, 08 to 18 March 2027.

Wellington to Queenstown at $64 and Christchurch to Hamilton at $64 are the best value for distance flown, and Dunedin to the Gold Coast at $179 is the cheapest way out of the country. Book by Monday 31 August 2026.
