Canberra, the Gold Coast and Hobart have no Singapore Airlines service of their own, so those fares include a domestic connection onto one of the ports above - which is why they sit around $1,260 to $1,275 rather than the sub-$800 fares available from most of the list.
Connection Information
If you’re flying from Canberra, the Gold Coast or Hobart, your itinerary includes a domestic leg onto one of the nonstop ports - most commonly Sydney (SYD), Melbourne (MEL) or Brisbane (BNE). Check the minimum connection time for the airport your booking routes through before you pay, especially if the layover looks tight.
About Singapore
Singapore works either as the whole trip or as a stopover on a longer one. The hawker centres - Maxwell, Lau Pa Sat, Old Airport Road, Tekka - do some of the best cheap eating anywhere in Asia, and Gardens by the Bay, the Singapore Botanic Gardens (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and the Southern Ridges walk cover the outdoors. Sentosa, the Night Safari and the shophouse streets of Katong, Tiong Bahru and Little India fill out the rest. It’s hot and humid year-round with heavier rain from November to January, English is spoken everywhere, public transport is fast and cheap, and the MRT will have you in the city centre well under half an hour after clearing Changi.
